Michael was in a soccer tournament this weekend.  His first time to play soccer, ever.  And, it was hot.  Hot is an understatement.  I don't think I've ever perspired, glowed, sweated...as much as I did yesterday.  His first game was at noon.  Lauren and I hid under my umbrella to avoid the penetrating rays of the sun...

...and my poor baby...

...sweltered in that long sleeve, goalie shirt...

I am told those shirts are made especially to retain your sweat so that you stay cool...?

He told me he wasn't hot.

All I can say, I guess, is, I'm glad he had fun...

while I, on the other hand, looked as if I had been swimming.  Ew.

Michael decided he wanted to try soccer out.  Friday night, he had his first game.  He did really well, I think, and he had a blast!  :)

Number 11.  He played mid-field, back field (defense?), and goalie.  :)

While I was meeting with parents and kids at meet the teacher last night,

my daughter was sitting at my desk, in the corner, writing me secret messages...

...which I found when I sat down at my desk this morning.  She's a nut.

This afternoon, I found another secret message from Someone Else...

I think it says, "I love you."

I can't take credit for this wonderful idea...credit goes to my friend, Tara.   I gave each kiddo

$5 to spend at the $1 store.  The rule was they had to pick 5 things that anyone would like...not specific to just them...and not show the other person.  Then, we brought it all home and put each item in a brown paper sack.  These were to be the prizes for the winners of these games...

We ordered pizza and listened to the Rangers while we played Scattergories, Jenga, Scrabble, and Uno.  We didn't make it to the others because the night ran longer than we thought.  And you might already know we played Phase 10 earlier in the day.  Here's some of the prizes they picked out:

Sadness.  The flowerbed that I planted back in March...dead (see my blog #78/365 or http://jnelmo2.blogspot.com/2011/03/78365-it-is-well.html).  All of it.  I feel like I was pretty diligent in keeping it weeded and watered...but it wasn't enough.  I have failed in my attempt at gardening...

And it happened so fast.
