Wishing you were all here with us.  This is something no one should miss.  Truly, my heart is full and I am blessed beyond measure to be able to spend this time, in this setting with my family.  It causes one to genuinely appreciate what really matters in life.
Be blessed.

#323/365--A Few Shy...

...A few cards shy of a full deck...
...A few bricks short of a full load...
...not the sharpest knife in the drawer...
...the elevator doesn't reach the top floor...
...the lights are on but no one is home...
...nutty as a fruitcake...
Yes.  All of these idioms describe me.  Your local idiot.  Idioms describing the Idiot....who, very classically, left her purse at Taco Bell last night.  You know what they say about having too much on your plate...something ends up sliding off.  Last night, I was easing into the weekend with my kiddos.  I just got paid and thought it'd be fun to take them out so as not to have to worry about dishes.  It had been a busy day.  It's been a busy week.  A busy month.  Who am I kidding?  It's been a busy, crazy school year...

But that's no excuse.

When we got in line to order, there was a gentleman in line in front of us waiting for his food.  He was in need of grooming.  And thus, he took it upon himself to take care of business by pulling out his pocket knife and picking his teeth until his order number was called.  To say that this was a bit distracting is, of course, obvious.

I won't let that be my excuse, either.

We placed our order, got our drinks, then sat down, awaiting our number to be called.  While we waited, I took pics (see yesterday's blog), and we chatted amongst ourselves.  We waited quite awhile.  Finally, I looked up at the counter to see our food just sitting there.  None of us had heard our order number called.  Perhaps I should have stayed up there, picking my teeth, too?

Nor will I let that be my excuse.

After eating, we came home and got ourselves ready for bed.  Lauren felt ill--something she ate did not agree with her.  I felt ill--refer to "long week" comment.  So we fell asleep pretty early.

And that really isn't any excuse.

Today, Michael was asked to do something with a friend.  I was getting ready to take him, when all of a sudden I couldn't find my purse.  After looking frantically every logical place I thought it could be, I called Taco Bell.  The nice lady told me there was no purse there. I ended up alerting my bank and credit card company and ordering a new debit/credit card.  I was looking online about how to order a new drivers' license, becoming quite overwhelmed at the thought of not having access to my money (with no ID), add to the fact that we are leaving for Arkansas on Wednesday for Thanksgiving...there were tears...and pacing....

Finally, I decided to breathe.  And pray.  Then, it struck me to call Taco Bell to leave my number--just in case.  When I called back, another person answered the phone.  I explained about my purse and she said, "Is it brownish and pink?" When I answered her that, in fact, it is brownish/pinkish, she responded, "We have it right here!"

It was a long hour from when I realized I had left my purse on the back of the chair at Taco Bell to going to the bank and getting a temporary ATM card.  In that hour, I went from panicked to relieved and blessed.  I know this can happen to anyone.  Right?  I just seem to be the culprit most of the time.  Honestly, it's just so I can have something interesting to blog about...

But really...
...I'd probably lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body...
...forget my name if I didn't check the mail...
...it's all fun and games until someone loses their purse...

And honestly...
...all's well that ends well...

#320/365--Change

...of pace...
...of address...
...of subject...
...of plans...
...of heart...
...of season...

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace."
(Eccl. 3:1-8)

Change is good.
Change is inevitable.
You can change your mind.
You can change your life.
You can change your clothes.
You can change your attitude.

You should change your underwear.

...and fall is my favorite season...
...next to winter, that is...

#319/365--Signage

Road signs are pretty clear.

...if only "life" signs were as clear....

Unfortunately, this...
...is generally how I see life...
